Right Wing  "Family Values"

They say that they are pro life and yet they are pro war.
They say that government should not intrude into their lives.
But, they want government to intrude into your bedroom.
They claim to be Christians, followers of Jesus who championed the poor;
yet they champion the rich and demean the poor.
They promote greed when Jesus promoted charity.
Prominent in their leadership are phony preachers who gather great wealth to themselves.
They talk patriotism while they sell out our government to their special interest friends and line their own pockets.
Since when are are greed, thievery, bigotry, and hypocrisy family values.

The Republican Right Wing has made a mockery of the label "family values".  They have sold a concept of greed and bigotry under a label which so many of us have honored with our lives.  Their current movement started more than thirty years ago when the right wing radio talk show hosts told their growing audiences that "good Americans" were greedy.  They avoided truth and logic, using ridicule, innuendo, sarcasm, shouting, and endless repeating to promote the most outrageous of lies.  Meanwhile, the TV and radio evangelists promoted greed and personal power as the centerpieces of their misrepresentation of Christianity.  Instead of serving the poor as taught by Jesus, they honored the rich and served as examples of the chosen people, displaying their conspicuous wealth gained from the contributions of their duped followers.  Through our history, phony self serving ministers and politicians have reinforced their power by promoting fear, hatred and a sense of superiority over another group.   The victim groups have varied with circumstances and locality - Blacks, Jews, Irish, Chinese, Gypsies, Native Americans, ...  By the 1970s our society had evolved to the point that using another ethnic group was recognized as unacceptable.  So, the Republican Right selected the gays. They have made it their self serving mission to enforce (by law) on the selected group a single verse in Leviticus (18:22).  They choose to not live their own lives by the teachings of the Bible having to do with the protection of the poor as taught in Leviticus 25 and the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament.  Such selectivity is essential to their accumulation of wealth.  They use a thin veil of phony religion to shield themselves from a rightful prosecution for theft by deception.   George W. Bush tied into the political power of the evangelists and the rest is sordid history.

When we elect officials with poor values we get dishonest and failed government.  We get officials who don't value the difference between the truth and a lie they think they can get away with.  They have no allegiance to integrity. Integrity is bedrock for an honest man and an honest government.  It provides orientation - a moral compass.   Without integrity, a man or a government is like a rudderless ship.    As is now so evident with the Bush administration, such a government is soon lost in the quagmire of conflicting intrigue and deception.

The right wing political, business and religious leaders are on a quest for unlimited wealth and power.  By their plan, wages for workers will be low while the rich will have massive untaxed income.  As nations like Columbia are now, the United States will be a third world nation of a few haves and many have-nots.  But, Columbia is a terrible place to live, even for the haves.  The world they strive for will be a disaster even for them.  Not only does greed remove any sense of morality, it makes idiots of people.  They would promote their own hanging if they could sell the rope to the hangman at a high profit.

The immorality of the Republican religious right wing produced the arrogant, immoral, and extremely dangerous Bush/Cheney foreign policy.  They lied to justify the invasion of Iraq.  They constantly lied about  the success of the fight against insurgency until forced by persistent reality to admit that there was no untold "good news".    (Again, they saw little difference between the truth and a lie they could sell.) They continue to make the statements: "It is better to fight them in Iraq than in America."  and "If we leave Iraq, they will follow us home."  These ridiculous statements are based on the illogic that if our forces are over there, the terrorists cannot come here.   We are creating more insurgents and giving them battlefield experience in Iraq.  The reality is that with our military and financial resources being employed over there, it is easier for them to attack us here, and they have a greater incentive to do it.

In the shadows of the Bush foreign policy is the sinister right wing religious plan centered around "rapture".  Many of them believe that the second coming of Christ will follow a massive world war originating in the Middle East.  They believe that if they help God (Did he ask for their help?) by promoting that upheaval,  they will be taken to Heaven where they can watch as the rest of us perish.  With this, they have made the move to outright insanity.
